ALOHA :: Rusty Baily!
Well, it’s with much joy and an equal amount of sadness that we say goodbye to our good friend and fellow HERO, Rusty Baily. He declared way back in the spring that he was movin’ to Hawaii, but I think we all thought/hoped he was either kidding or would change his mind. He’s sold, or given away, almost everything he owns but his eco-friendly Prius, 3 or 4 suitcases of clothes, his awesome pooch “Q,” and of course his Luke Cage collection. He and Q are taking off in the Prius Tuesday for the West coast and a flight to paradise about a week later. So I guess he is really doing it!
I’ve known Rusty for over 20 years! First as an enthusiastic 12 year old comic collector, and for the past 5 or 6 years as friend, neighbor and part-time employee. He’s still as enthusiastic as when he first came in the store and just a pleasure to be around. His work ethic and conscience will be hard to replace. He’s always been ready to jump in wherever he was needed and work extra days and overtime especially around HeroesCon time. I think we all are a little jealous that Rusty has the guts and ambition to take such a step. Heroes is going to miss you Rusty! We wish you all the best, and hurry up and get that big ‘ole house on the beach ready. We’re all coming for a vacation!
Thank Shelton! YOU. ARE. THE. MAN! And it’s an honor to be a part of the Heroes Family! If you don’t come and visit, I’ll be sad. I love All Y’all! Aloha!!!

Gonna miss you, and that dog. LOL It is a great honor and privledge to have you as a friend. Good luck on the big island and don’t forget us here. Don’t be afraid to drop Alma and I a line when you get a chance and maybe if you come back this way we can work on another costume for another kick-ass Halloween. So long my friend and “Hang Ten”
Rusty– I am a better man for knowing you.
Book ’em Danno……ALOHA
Back in April me and my two compatriots made our weekly Heroes run, the main difference was that it was the first time we made it at night. THat was the first time I met Rusty Bailey. He was friendly, informative, and a genuinely great guy.
Even though I only knew Rusty in a short span of time I feel as if a close friend is moving away. That was Rusty’s superpower: he made friend’s with all he met.
Mahalo Rusty, the store is less bright and the Heroes run will be less fun without you there.
But also, congrats.
As has been stated, Rusty is über cool and a great guy. I wish him well in the 50th state while hoping that he makes an occasional journey back to the Old North State.
P.S. Rusty, please track down a copy of BHO’s birth certificate for me. I have some people I want to impress.
Peace
Thanks guys!
I had no idea you were leaving so early… I hate that we didn’t get a chance to say good-bye. Maybe we’ll come visit someday, and make good use of your couch. 😉
Travel safely!
