Twilight Manga GN vol 1 Official Sale Date :: Tuesday, March 16
Yen Press announced that their manga adaptation of Stephanie Meyer‘s Twilight series will have a national sale date of Tuesday, March 16. So one week from today Twilight Manga GN vol 1 will be sparkling up our shelves! It is a hardcover, $19.99 and clocks in at 224 pages. This adaptation is being done by Young Kim under Meyer’s close supervision. The manga is reportedly more close to the book than the movies, especially in regards to the depiction of the main characters. In other words you won’t see Robert Pattinson’s likeness in the manga. It is Kim’s interpretation of Edward you will see. There is a lot of buzz on the internet about it both good and bad. Personally, I think people on the internet need to lighten up and stop complaining. I am happy that Yen Press is doing a manga adaptation of the Twilight series and I am happy we will have it for sale in our store! And as we know by now all the cool kids like vampires.
I am in total agreement with you Shaun! I’m glad that comic book stores have a chance to sell to an audience that might not necessarily buy comics. Heck if a store were to position say a stand of Vertigo books like oh Fables or Sandman next to this graphic novel, there is the possibility that people will buy those as well as Twilight (especially if DC and Marvel are smart and start competitively pricing things!
Shawn– Do you know what Audience Rating this book as been given?
As much as I am not a fan–nor was I ever meant to be a fan–I must concede that Twilight is a great vehicle for the girls who devoured Harry Potter in grammar school to keep them coming back to the book stores.
Also, as Shawn mentioned, this is a golden opportunity to open the Comic Shop door to these impressionable youths.
PS– Sure! The average vampires are now brooding and misunderstood and attractive, but for us older folks this is nothing new.

Two of my friends & I went to see Twilight the Movie 3. We all liked Justin Chon as Eric the best.
