Introducing a brand new large format Leporello from American artist Dustin Harbin.

Can you name over 100 Dinosaurs off the top of your head? Do you know which of them came first? Which were the tallest and longest and which were the smallest and shortest? Which of them travelled by land and sea, or sky? Well if you don’t know, Behold! the Dinosaurs! will get you well on your way there, with over 100 of the most awe-inspiring dinos and a handful of other prehistoric creatures that leap, crawl, run, fly, swim and slither from one side of this 4 metre concertina to the other, right up to the point where… well, you know.

Dustin Harbin is well known in the alternative comics scene for his Diary Comics series published by Koyama Press. Dustin’s work has also appeared in Casanova, Seconds and the Hic & Hoc Illustrated Journal of Humor. He lives in North Carolina in the United States, just east of the region formed when the Ur-continents of Baltica and Laurentia collided, throwing up the Appalachian Mountains near the beginning of the Devonian Period. His favourite dinosaur is – of course – the Stegosaurus.

In addition to all the Free Comics and great artists, we’ll also be debuting a brand new, never before touched sale stock on Saturday! More specifically, this is a 27 box dollar stock that happens to be in alpha-numeric order. That’s right, it’s all in alpha-numeric order! Buy single books for $1 or fill a long box for $250. We haven’t debuted anything like this in quite some time, so bring your back issue want lists and enjoy the ease of shopping through an organized stock.

PARKING: This is always a big question for FCBD attendees. We want you to know there are plenty of parking options for Saturday. You can park anywhere in the lots directly beside or behind Heroes without the threat of being towed. This includes in front of any of the businesses from Dollar General down to the former Florist, including the small lot on the other side of the Florist. Our neighbors are kind to let us use their spaces for their event, so please patronize them on Saturday. We would love for them to see a little extra business from our FCBD crowd. This is our largest store event of the year, and these lots may fill quickly. The good news is that Saturday’s weather is supposed to be perfect for the event. If and when these lots fill up, remember that you can park on any of the surrounding streets behind Heroes. 8th Street and beyond has plenty of on-street parking, and it’ll be a beautiful day to walk a block or two to Heroes.

There are a few places you cannot park. Those are the four spaces directly in front of the Laundry in the lot next to Heroes, and in any of the spaces across Pecan at Pecan Point. This includes all of the parking spaces in the shopping center including businesses like Anntony’s Caribbean, Bang Bang Burgers, and around to Sunflour Bakery. You will be towed at your own expense if you park in any of those spaces, so heed that warning now, and remember it on Saturday.

We expect hundreds of people to pass through Heroes on Saturday, but there are many more parking options for you this year. As with your actions in the store, we would appreciate you being respectful of our neighbors, parking lot, and neighborhood. This is a large and busy event, but it’s one designed to be enjoyed, and we can all work together to make sure that happens for everyone.

HEROES FOR HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF :: FRACTION SIGNS HAWKEYE #7

January 30, 2013 By: Seth Peagler Category: Charlotte Minicon, Comics Industry, DISCUSS, EVENTS, Guest List, Heroes Aren't Hard To Find, HeroesCon, NEWS, Special Offers, Store Signings

In case you missed hearing about this at our recent Charlotte MiniCon, Heroes is teaming with writer Matt Fraction for a special offer benefiting the American Red Cross and their Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.  Fraction wrote a special stand alone issue for Hawkeye #7 that directly deals with the hurricane.  In addition to writing the story, Fraction is donating all of his royalties from the issue to the Red Cross.  That means the more copies people buy, the more money the Red Cross will make.

In conjunction with Fraction and the Red Cross, Heroes is offering a special signed copy of Hawkeye #7 for $10.  As of this writing, there are less than 100 copies still available.  You can stop by the store and reserve your copy today.  All of the money we receive for this book will go entirely to the Red Cross, and each transaction will be kept separate from other store purchases.  Our costs for the book, shipping, and Matt’s time are all being handled by us and aren’t included in the $10 price of the book.  That means all of the money will go straight to the Red Cross and their relief efforts.  We’d also encourage you to donate more than $10 for the book if you’re able.

We applaud Fraction and his work to maintain awareness of the Red Cross and their work helping those afflicted by Hurricane Sandy.  Reserve your copy of Hawkeye #7 today and help us raise money for those who desperately need it.
