Even though next week is HeroesCon, we’ve still got some big names to announce. Don’t forget, it’s not too late to pick up an advanced 3 day pass.  Just head over HERE and you’ll be on your way to our 30th Anniversary!

First up is artist Mike Zeck! Mike was with us way back at the first HeroesCon, and it’s been decades since he made any convention appearances, so we’re really excited to have him back this year.  Zeck’s influence is wide and varied, and most of you will remember him from acclaimed runs on books like Captain America, Secret Wars, Master of Kung Fu, and Punisher, among many others. He’s one of the greats, don’t miss this rare opportunity to meet him!

We’re also happy to welcome Jason Pearson back to HeroesCon.  Jason’s been a longtime guest of the show over the years, and you’ll know him for his work on Body Bags, Deadpool: Wade Wilson’s War, countless covers for titles like New Mutants, Deadpool, and Punisher, and more.

Artist Steve Epting is probably best known for his work on Captain America and the introduction of the Winter Soldier, but he also had nice runs on titles like Avengers, X-factor, and Marvels Project.  Most recently, he’s worked on Fantastic Four and FF.

The legendary Nick Cardy is also returning to HeroesCon this year!  Nick’s incredible Golden and Silver Age work on titles like Teen Titans, National Comics, Aquaman, Showcase, Bat Lash, and House of Mystery helped define what comics art could be.  He is truly a living legend, and someone who has influenced just about every comic creator and reader over the years.

Scott Hampton is another old friend of HeroesCon, and we’re happy to have him back once again.  In fact, Scott has appeared at every single HeroesCon to date!  Scott’s beautiful art has been seen just about everywhere, but you’ll probably know him for work on books like Hellboy: The Sleeping and the Dead, Rocketeer Adventures, Simon Dark, Silverheels, and Batman: Gotham County Line.

Joseph Michael Linsner is also returning to HeroesCon this year!  Linsner is known for his painterly art on titles like Dawn, Wolverine and Black Cat: Claws, Killraven, and covers for titles like Conan and Red Sonja.

J. David Spurlock is an award winning writer and editor of books like Wally’s World: Life and Death of Wally Wood, Joe Kubert: Draw From Life, Wally Wood’s Strange Worlds of Science Fiction, and The Complete Johnny Comet.

Bill Neville is an artist who has worked on diverse books like Explorers, Tick: Karma Tornado, Disney Adventures and Big Bang Comics.

Artist Al Bigley’s work has been seen in books like Sonic the Hedgehog, Archie and Friends, Geminar, Power Rangers and more.

Not all creators will appear every day of the show, we leave that choice up to them. If you guys are kind and treat them well they are more likely to stay for the entire weekend though! See you all soon!

You can still buy autographs and fast pass tickets in advance of the HeroesCon, ala carte from Desert Winds Comics, as well as autographs and photographs at the con itself as long as time allows.

Stan is pretty super, but superhuman is still the stuff of comic books! There are no guarantees how many autographs will be available at the show.

Walt Simonson and Louise “Weezie” Simonson are coming back to HeroesCon!! Walt exploded on to the comics scene with Manhunter in the 70’s and when on to influence generations with his incredible work on The Mighty Thor, X-Men/ Teen Titans crossover, and X-Factor! Louise is a writer known for great runs on Power Pack, X-Factor, New Mutants, and Superman: The Man of Steel! We are honored these great creators and great people are taking the time to join us to celebrate our 30th Anniversary!

Herb Trimpe has worked on dozens of titles for Marvel Comics including The Incredible Hulk, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Shogun Warriors, Godzilla and more. Of course he also illustrated that awesome 1st appearance of Wolverine on the Hulk #181 cover over there on the left!

Georges Jeanty is like family at HeroesCon–the longtime penciller of the Buffy The Vampire Slayer comic series has also drawn Green Lantern, Superboy, Superman, and tons more! We’re happy he’s making the trek from his new home on the West Coast to see us!

The price for this special opportunity is $55.00 USD per autograph (which includes processing and handling fees). You must supply the item to be signed. Also offered by Desert Wind is the Stan Lee Fast Pass. The Fast Pass allows you to get into a special express line during a DWC Stan Lee signing. Thanks to the great response we received from you guys, we are going to have our first HeroesCon Fun Run this year! Join us Saturday morning on June 23rd for exercise, friends, and fun! We’ll be meeting outside The Westin, Stonewall St side  at 7:00 AM. We’ll be accepting donations (after we cover printing costs) on behalf of the Hairy Cell Leukemia Research Foundation to fund research into the causes, diagnoses, and treatment of hairy cell leukemia, the disease that took the life of the great Dave Stevens. For your donation you will receive a HeroesCon Fun Run shirt with art by Eric Canete! Eric has even offered to do portfolio reviews for any aspiring artists willing to run, details here!

You don’t need to make a donation to run, but we sure would appreciate it and so would the foundation. You also don’t need to run to donate or get the shirt! Shirts will be available for pre-order for a VERY limited time (we need to get them to press!) So get your orders now! We will do a very small overprint of a few sizes to have the day of the run. We are happy to welcome Neal Adams back to HeroesCon this June 22-24! Thanks to everyone who attended last year and met Neal on his first visit to HeroesCon; you must have made a great impression! Neal is a legend in the comic book industry as much for his artwork as he is for crusading for the rights of fellow creators and striking out on his own when such a thing was unheard of. Neal’s career spans decades, from classic runs on characters like X-Men, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, and Batman to his current Batman: Odyssey. Be on the lookout for The First X-Men coming soon from Neal and writer (and fellow HeroesCon 2012 guest) Christos Gage!

One of Jared Moraitis’ BeastWreck Shirts & Stuff was recently featured on an episode of NBC’s Community. Jared makes great shirts and if you buy two shirts at HeroesCon this year one of them should say BeastWreck on it! The other one will of course say HeroesCon or Indie Island.

Michel Fiffe is the creator of the comic series, Zegas, which he began publishing in 2011 as Copra Press. On top of writing and drawing Zegas, Fiffe has immersed himself in various comics projects such as editing the indie anthology Twisted Savage Dragon Funnies and conducting in-depth creator interviews for several institutions including The Comics Journal.

When he’s not working in animation,  Dan Duncan is making comics. You’ve seen his art on the latest incarnation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and on the beautifully painted covers of Xenoholics. Catch this guy before he and his crew are super famous and don’t have time for you. Ah, he’d make time anyway, Dan is a super nice guy.

Artist Tom Lyle is also returning to HeroesCon next month.  Tom’s illustrated numerous books like Spider-man, Robin, Punisher and Batman.  He’s also an instructor at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), who he’ll be setting up with again this year.

Darth Vader and Son by Jeffrey Brown

HeroesCon is exactly one month away and we’re still adding guests. This isn’t even the last guest list update before the show! We’re bursting at the seams! Get your tickets today!

Jeffrey Brown had a recent hit with Darth Vader and Son, and is well known for other comics like The Incredible Change-Bots, Little Things, Clumsy, Unlikely and many more.

Tom Bancroft is a veteran artist in animation, storyboards and comics.  He’s done design work for lots of big Disney films like Aladdin, Lion King and Mulan, and illustrated books like Opposite Forces and the art instruction book Creating Characters With Personality.

June Brigman and Roy Richardson are the married creators behind the past fifteen years of Brenda Starr.  June is also known for her work on titles like Power Pack, Supergirl and an adaptation of the novel Black Beauty with Roy.

Dennis Calero has been a go-to artist for many companies over the years.  In addition to work on popular properties like 28 Days Later: The Aftermath, Calero’s also illustrated books like X-men: Noir, X-factor and Cowboys & Aliens.

Michael Dolce is a comics writer who has worked on books like Grimm Fairy Tales, Descendant and Sire.

Zealand “Steve” Jones has been a character designer on animated shows such as Batman: Brave and The Bold, Justice League Unlimited, Batman Beyond, Superman, and the New Adventures of Batman. He also worked on Teen Titans, Legion of Superheroes, JL: The New Frontier DTV, JL: Crisis on 2 Earths DTV, Men In Black and G I Joe: Renegades. Currently , he is working on the new CG TMNT cartoon at Nickelodeon Studios. His pals Dan Panosian

and Tim Townsend told him HeroesCon was a great show so he decided to make his first trip to the Queen City to check it out!

Drew Moss is currently drawing a story for Outlaw Territory Volume 3. He has also worked on Zombies VS Robots and The Baku.

Ethan Van Sciver has been a mainstay at DC for years now.  He’s illustrated titles like Green Lantern, Green Lantern: Rebirth, Flash: Rebirth and most recently the new 52 title Fury of Firestorm.

David Antoine Williams made quite an impression last year at his first ever appearance at HeroesCon! See the image below for one of the reasons why! David has been keeping busy with covers for G.I. Joe, Cobra and tons of other stuff since we saw him last. Don’t miss this chance to meet and chat with the one and only “Brohawk”!
