NEW COMICS WILL ARRIVE

LATER IN THE DAY

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2020

It is STILL 2020 after all…

Due to a shipping mishap, Heroes will be receiving our books for Wednesday, November 11 later than usual.
Accidents will happen, what can we say?

New books will be arriving sometime during the day on Wednesday, but we will still need to COUNT them, check for damages, and complete pull lists for our Reserve Customers before they can go out on the racks.

We ask you to give us a few extra hours tomorrow to get our shipment sorted.

New books are ON THEIR WAY, but we suggest that you consider stopping by tomorrow evening instead of at 10am hoping to get first dibs.

We will update this post (and our Social Media) tomorrow as soon as New Books are on the shelves for everyone!

We appreciate your understanding and patience!!

We will be limiting the number of people shopping at a time to allow for safe social distancing as an extra precaution. Additional safety measures may be implemented in an effort to make this event as safe as physically possible. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we do our best to make sure that everyone stays safe and healthy!

FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2020 ::

Like 99% of 2020’s regularly scheduled events, the pandemic forced the cancellation of this year’s “Free Comic Book Day” event which would have been held on the first Saturday in May.
Once printing and production resumed, in late June, this year’s Free Comic Book Day books began shipping a few titles a week. Instead of releasing those books a few at a time over the course of months, we decided to hold our books until Labor Day so that we could make them all available during our Anniversary Sale! There will still be some Free Comic Book Day titles that won’t ship until after Labor Day, but this will be the bulk of this years selections. Please keep in mind that, while you are more than welcome to pick up multiple FCBD titles, quantities are limited. We will limit all available titles to no more than ONE PER-CUSTOMER in order to ensure that as many customers benefit as possible!

We hope to see you there!!

WE ARE LISTENING

June 26, 2020 at 6:16 pm By:

To the comics community:

We ARE listening.

We have been gutted by the instances that have come to light over this past week, and we are devastated to learn that any of these instances occurred during our show or at any of our satellite events.

There are multiple changes that need to occur on an industry-wide scale, but the Heroes Convention and Heroes Aren’t Hard to Find will be taking significant steps to be part of the solution & not part of the problem.

We support and acknowledge the need for change.

To say that we were not made aware of these instances until this week is a moot point.

We will take measures to prevent situations like these, or anything even remotely similar, from happening at ANY of our future events.

This commitment extends to the ENTIRE comics community, not just to female creators, but to our LQBTQ+ & BIPOC community as well.

We will BE BETTER. We must insist that everyone BE BETTER.
While our next show isn’t for another year, we have an entire year to listen to the community, to learn from these experiences, and to put in the effort to BE THE CHANGE.

The Heroes Convention has had a CODE OF CONDUCT policy in place for years. It is posted in multiple locations all over the convention floor and is the second page in our program book:

#BLACKLIVESMATTER

BLM

Heroes stand for Justice, and Heroes Aren’t Hard to Find stands with the BIPOC Community and the #BlackLiveMatter movement.

We must live by the code of the heroes whose stories we carry in our store, and stand for what is RIGHT.

Captain America fought the Nazis. The X-Men, Black Panther, and countless other titles throughout the years, have represented the fight for civil rights.

In December of 1968, Stan Lee, the father of Marvel Comics, used his Soapbox to declare, “Racism and bigotry are among the deadliest social ills plaguing the world today.”

Stan Lee Racism Soapbox

A few months earlier, in October 1968 his Soapbox stated, “We believe that Man has a divine destiny, and an awesome responsibility – the responsibility of treating all who share this wondrous world of ours with tolerance and respect – judging each fellow human on his own merit, regardless of race, creed, or color.”

We look forward to a new chapter written by a new world where diversity and inclusivity are not just fictional characters on a page, but a reality for all who live it.

We stand with you.
