ANDY’S PICK :: ESSENTIAL AVENGERS #9: The Avengers uncover some secrets about the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver’s childhoods (they’re siblings–shhhh!) What more could you ask for?–Okay how about several hundred pages of
John Byrne art followed by a couple of hundred pages of
George Perez art and the witty dialog and fast paced plotting of the vastly underrated
David Michelinie. The collection comes to a boil with the landmark/insane/controversial/convoluted and altogether indispensable Avengers #200 where Ms. Marvel gives birth to….well, you’ll just have to buy it to find out.
ESSENTIAL AVENGER #9 collects the following issues first published in 1979/80:
AVENGERS#185-206 and
ANNUAL #9 that features artwork by the late great
Don Newton (with inks by
Joe Rubinstein—
come on!!)
