Big Apple Comic Con – November 22
Charlotte Comicon – December 7

Our friends at CGC Comics and James Spence Authentication – JSA will be offering ON-SITE GRADING and AUTOGRAPH AUTHENTICATION at the 2025 Heroes Convention!

We hope you all know that the 2025 HeroesCon is right around the corner, June 20-22 at the Charlotte Convention Center.
We’ve been working harder than ever to make this year’s HeroesCon our best yet!
We still have a LOT of work to do to get ready for the show, such as posting our 2025 Artist Alley Table participants, getting panels scheduled, and MORE!
So make sure to purchase your tickets today!
Before we get to the HeroesCon festivities, we will be hosting Free Comic Book Day, this Saturday, May 3rd.
The store will be open regular hours that day from 10am – 7pm, with a small but spectacular group of Artists joining us from 1pm-6pm doing sketches!
Artists joining us for this year’s FCBD:
John Burgin
Bridgit Connell
Sanford Greene
John Hairston Jr.
Brian Stelfreeze
It’s been an unusual time for comic book stores all across the country this year as we navigate changes in distribution throughout the industry.
As a result of this, along with a multitude of other factors, this year’s Free Comic Book Day is going to be a little different. Most notably, the number of “Free Comic Book Day” exclusive books we will have available will be extremely limited in quantity.
To help supplement our stock of “FREE” books, Shelton will be bringing out our back-stock of $1 comics, and we will allow customers to select up to 10 books from the $1 stock for FREE on Saturday, May 3!
“Free Comic Day Exclusive Comics” will be limited to no more than 3 per person, with no duplicates, and those 3 will count against your 10 “free” titles.
We will have staff on hand to help navigate the proceedings.
We are happy to have Free Comic Book Day back again, but we also want to make sure we have comics available for as many customers as possible.
Free Comic Book Day will be lots of fun for everyone, and a great way to kick off the HeroesCon season!
Just a reminder: PLEASE DO NOT PARK ACROSS THE STREET at the PECAN POINT SHOPPING CENTER. They WILL BOOT YOUR CAR.
We recommend finding on-street parking on 8th Street or Pecan Avenue.
As always, we appreciate your enthusiasm and continued support!

The Charlotte Mini-Con will return to the Grady Cole Center on Saturday, February 1 from 11am-5pm!
Packed wall to wall with some of the BEST Comic-Book Dealers in the country, and an incredible lists of comic creators and local artists, the Charlotte Mini-Con is a MUST for comic-book lovers and collectors of all ages!!
Kids 16 and Under get in FREE with a paying, attending, adult!
Tickets are $5 in advance, and wil also be available at the door.

The Grady Cole Center has updated its bag policy for the Charlotte Mini-Con to allow REGULAR bags, diaper bags, purses, boxes, etc, entry to the premises – as long as all items are submitted for a bag check! You are good to bring your backpacks, your reusable shopping bags, and your boxes of comics to the show!

There is a $15 parking fee to park
at the Grady Cole Center.

To soften the sting of the parking charge, we ask that you bring your parking receipt inside to the Heroes Aren’t Hard to Find booth, where we will exchange your parking receipt for items worth AT LEAST $15-$20!
We recommend carpooling, or taking a Lyft or an Uber, but you might also consider taking advantage of the Light Rail CityLynx Gold Line. There is a walkable stop located at CPCC: See More Info About the Gold Line Here
The Grady Cole Center is a old building, with lots of local history attached! The one down-side to that history is that there are five steps, and no ramps to the entrance of the building. If you need ADA accessibility, please let the attendant at the entrance to the back of the building know that you require ADA access.
We look forward to seeing you at the Charlotte Mini-Con!!

From Shelton Drum:
“I have offered a pull and hold service for almost 50 years. I started holding subscriptions 5 years before I opened Heroes as a brick-and-mortar! Most comics back then were 40 cents. Today, $2.99 is the lowest price for a new comic (there are only a few), most are $4-$8 with special issues costing as much as $10-$12. The math is vastly different than when I started.
I really can’t afford to “hold” inventory past the promised time frame.
I’ve been lenient with the rules for a long time, but I cannot continue with the new realities of net cost on comic books. The rules on the Reserve Customer Agreement will be strictly enforced beginning in January 2025. I will be sending you an invoice this month in hopes you will bring your account up to date, and we can start fresh in January. Ideally, we would love to see you every week!
Going forward, you will receive an invoice if you have anything that has been on hold for 30 days. As per the agreement you signed when starting your account, you will have 48 hours to pick up all of your comics, or pay the invoice online. We will hold “paid comics” for you until you come to pick up or ask us to ship them to you.
Thank you for shopping with Heroes Aren’t Hard to Find! Some you have been for over 40 years and I’m very proud of that and forever grateful! Let’s go for at least another 40!”

Heroes Aren’t Hard to Find and the Heroes Convention are honored to consider Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff and Team Cul de Sac as a part of our family.
Not only that, but Cheap Joe’s serves as the Art Supply Sponsor for our Live Art Stage, Friday Evening Drink and Draw for Team Cul de Sac, AND for our Quick Draw events…as well as being THE PLACE for artists to re-stock their art supplies during our show each year!
Both Cheap Joe’s AND Team Cul de Sac are based out of Asheville, NC, which, as most of you will know, was hit INCREDIBLY HARD by Hurricane Helene.
Team Cul de Sac would like to gather as many art supplies for the Asheville and Swannanoa Elementary and Middle School kids as possible to help kids create as their community rebuilds.
The best of the best, Miss Aly Perez from Cheap Joes is willing to assist this cause by creating $15 individual art packets to donate to these area schools. ($15 = One Packet per student)
Cheap Joes is still operating without internet services, so Team Cul de Sac has offered to handle donations. This effort will not only help the community, but will also help out the art community AND a local small business!
If you are able, and would like to send a monetary donation through Team Cul de Sac, you may do so through Venmo.

Last 4 digits are 0158
If you are local to the Asheville area, you can donate in person at Cheap Joes by purchasing supplies.
You can call Cheap Joes directly at 1-828-518-6019 and ask for Aly. She should have photos of the packs next week.
We appreciate any help that you can offer to our friends and community!!
