RICO’S PICK :: HIT #1: Bryce Carlson and a new-to-comics artist Vanesa R. Del Rey bring their talents to classic Los Angeles Noir with Hit #1. Vanesa’s illustration art is gorgeous and I look forward to seeing her work sequentially. Below is a peek at her art for Hit in black and white followed by a finished color page. Archie Van Buren is the colorist and Ryan Sook is providing  beautiful main covers for this series.

RICO’S PICK :: DAY MEN #1: I’ll be honest and admit that I’ve never read anything by either of the writers credited on Day Men but when artist Brian Stelfreeze draws the insides of a comic I pay attention. Vampires are nocturnal and they need someone to do stuff for them during the day like defend their lives and I dunno, do their banking and run their other errands . I’m positive it’s way more action-y than what I just described, let’s find out together.

>BONUS PICK! If you are a fan of Adam Warren’s Dirty Pair comics  (or Empowered for that matter) you need to check out A+X #10 this month! It features a story written and drawn by Warren starring Scarlet Witch and Domino in a science fiction adventure. The other story by B.Clay Moore and Kris Anka looks great too!

RICO’S PICK :: ADVENTURE TIME: FIONNA & CAKE #01: Natasha Allegri, who works on TV’s Adventure Time, is writing AND drawing this 6-issue series starring the characters she created for the show. I’m a huge fan of Fionna and Cake and Natasha’s Tumblr is just about one of the funniest things you can see on the internet. So I’m not really sticking my neck out when I say this series is going to be great! And check out that sweet, sweet cover by my pals Joe Quinones & Maris Wicks!!

HEATHER’S PICK :: SNARKED #11: Boy, do I ever love a good Roger Langridge comic! He has been hitting it out of the park on Snarked, so much so that I hope BOOM! will follow this series up with another new story when the current one ends next month with Issue #12.  Langridge’s refreshing take on the Walrus and the Carpenter from Alice in Wonderland has been a joy to read each month.  Be sure to pick up this issue to find out whether or not the Kingdom with be saved with some Snarked Island treasure (and what exactly that giant beaver on the cover is up to!).  If you haven’t been reading this wonderful all ages story, have no fear Snarked Volume One collecting Issues #0 through #4 awaits for your reading pleasure.
